Jason Marsalis is the youngest member of New Orleans’ venerable first family of jazz, made up of his brothers – Wynton, Branford and Delfeayo, and their patriarch – Ellis. Jason began his musical career at age 6, when he began taking lessons from the legendary New Orleans drummer James Black.

By high school, he was regularly performing alongside his father and brothers at gigs throughout the country, as well as studying orchestral percussion techniques. After graduating, his career quickly took off – he performed alongside virtuoso pianist Marcus Roberts, co-founded the Latin-jazz group Los Hombres Calientes and learned to play the vibraphone. Each passing year, Jason Marsalis continues to grow and develop as both a composer and performer. With a fire in his heart and a passion for the music, his will to swing has never been more resolute.
