With three GRAMMY® nominations and 11 albums to his name, Donny McCaslin’s path to success has been punctuated by impressive collaborations and projects, but perhaps none quite as significant as his experience working with David Bowie on the album Blackstar. McCaslin has been a spark plug in New York jazz circles for the past two decades, with his own groups and in the employ of noteworthy leaders like Danilo Perez and Maria Schneider, who led him to his work with Bowie. Known for integrating the entire range of sounds that a tenor sax can produce into his repertoire, McCaslin seamlessly transitions from mainstream modern to funky fusion to laid-back balmy ballads, all flavored with his own experimental style. Paying tribute to Bowie and beyond, McCaslin is here to prove his reputation, taking jazz down a contemporary path with profound expertise and limitless improvising technique.
