This captivating, bilingual one-woman performance is a modern spin on a beloved fairy tale, tackling important lessons about culture, family and the power of language. Ten-year-old Belinda is a budding poet. Banished to the basement by her stepmother and stepsisters, she uses poetry, storytelling and her own imagination to create a better world for herself. When Belinda learns that one of her favorite writers is attending a party upstairs hosted by her stepmother, she must learn to stand up for herself, take charge of her life and follow her dreams.
CENICIENTA was commissioned by Zach Theatre and written by Caroline Reck and Rupert Reyes. It was originally created and presented at Zach Theatre in collaboration with Teatro Vivo and Glass Half Full Theatre. The role of Belinda was originated by Gricelda Silva.
