This program celebrates the power of the arts in education and motivates support for and interest in high school musicals, by recognizing achievement and excellence in musical theater among high school students and educators.

How does the Diamond Awards program work?
Walton Arts Center sends theatre professionals to eligible High School Musicals and provide feedback to students for their performances. The top placing students are invited to participate in the Diamond Awards “bootcamp” and perform during the awards ceremony on May 23, 2027, at Walton Arts Center. Modeled after Broadway’s Tony Awards®, awards are presented in several categories for individuals and ensembles.
The Best Lead Actress and Actor winners will advance to compete with peers from more than 55 regional awards programs from across the country in New York City at the Broadway League Foundation’s National High School Musical Theatre Awards®, “The Jimmy Awards®." Walton Arts Center will cover the cost of this trip for the two winners. Once there, they’ll receive training from Broadway professionals and compete for The Jimmy Award for Best Actress or Actor.
