Direct from County Waterford in Ireland, this spirited band is known as one of the leading traditional Irish ensembles today, presenting authentic interpretations of traditional Celtic music for audiences all over the globe. In this special performance, Danú offers a sampling of songs, music and stories that have emerged from Christmas celebrations held across their homeland for hundreds of years. The achingly beautiful and tender language of Oscar Wilde joins the intimate and magical world of internationally-acclaimed Slingsby Theater Company of Australia, as we journey to faraway lands replete with rich rewards and challenging choices. The Young King tells the story of a naïve boy raised by goatherds who turns out to be the heir to the kingdom. Untold treasures and privileges are laid at his feet, but at what cost to others? Performed by two actors and one musician, and enhanced by miniature puppets and shadow play, this interactive performance tells a touching coming of age story that grapples with the ethics of beauty, leadership and compassion, and asks “what kind of King would you be?”  Best for ages 8+
