Ballet Arkansas has become a driving force of artistic collaboration and a catalyst for the premiere of engaging new works. Started as a non-profit organization in 1978 based in Little Rock, the organization’s board of directors formed Ballet Arkansas Professional Dance Company in 2009. Each year the company has expanded its reach in the community and throughout the state, yet it has remained committed to providing excellent educational and performance experiences in a variety of settings. Members of The Ballet Arkansas Dance Company come from varied backgrounds and have unique capabilities in both dance instruction and performance.

The Ballet Arkansas performance of Emergence brings the depth and range of the company to the forefront. Highlighted within the program is the regional hit Under the Lights by Chris Stuart, set to the music of Johnny Cash. Also featured is the timeless Valse Fantaisie by George Balanchine and a world premiere by 2017 Winter Visions winner Mariana Oliveira.

As part of the 10x10 Arts Series in addition to the performance patrons are able to attend a pre-show creative conversation with award-winning choreographer Mariana Oliveira, led by Ballet Arkansas Artistic Director Michael Fothergill. Following the show, patrons and artists are also invited to attend an after party in the Walker Atrium and share their thoughts about the show with the popular Post-It® Note responses.
