Susan Werner Brings Her National Tour to Walton Arts Center
NORTHWEST ARKANSAS, October 30, 2017 – Susan Werner has done it again. The woman NPR named "Empress of the Unexpected" has released another unique concept album supported by a national tour that comes to Walton Arts Center on Thursday, Nov. 9 at 7:30 pm as part of the West Street Live music series.
Tickets start at $30 and can be purchased online at waltonartscenter.org, in person at our Box Office or by calling 479.443.5600.
Susan Werner’s new EP, An American In Havana, is a collection of original songs inspired by Werner's recent travels to Cuba. The recording features performances and arrangements by legendary Cuban percussionist Mayra Casales, Dizzy Gillespie, Tito Puente and Regina Carter, along with Werner's trademark song-craft and wry, poetic lyrics.
The tour will bring An American In Havana and Werner's lively concert persona to audiences in Northwest Arkansas. Long-time friends and frequent band members Radoslav Lorkovic and Adam Chaffins make up the trio with Susan as she updates traditional styles of music with sharp, funny and incisive lyrics.
A triple threat as a writer, singer and musician, Werner has been one of the most prolific singer/songwriters in the United States since her 1995 BMG/Private Music major label debut. Her iconoclastic concept albums, including 2007’s agnostic gospel album The Gospel Truth and 2013’s tribute to agriculture Hayseed, have won her passionate fans from coast to coast. She is composer and lyricist for the forthcoming Broadway show, Bull Durham The Musical, based on the iconic MGM film.
